Dakota Fanning, Luke Evans + Daniel Brühl Are Back!
In a pleasant turn of events, TNT’s crime drama The Alienist is returning with 10 new episodes. All three of our leads are back: Dakota Fanning, Luke Evans and Daniel Brühl. As they move forward in time, they deal with a societal shift that comes with it.
This season’s subtitle, Angel of Darkness, is from the title of Caleb Carr’s sequel to The Alienist novel. In it, Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Brühl) is asked to solve the mystery of a slew of baby-nappings. Of course, his two friends and former associates come to his aide. Sara Howard (Fanning) has opened her detective agency and faces the struggles of being a female entrepreneur. Meanwhile, John Moore lands a job at the New York Times and gets caught up in yellow journalism’s sensationalization.
The trailer — watch it above — demonstrates that The Alienist’s look and feel are unchanged. It’s still the dark, gritty narrative we love. The trailer also teases the budding romance between Fanning’s and Evans’ characters. Spicy!
The Alienist returns July 19 and consumers will get a double dose of the series each Sunday through Aug. 9. TNT will air two episodes every week to feed your obsession but keep you wanting more.
