THE DEFEATED IS A THRILLER

Do you feel like your life needs more suspense? Action? Drama? We’ve got a show for you!
The Defeated (previously titled Shadowplay) is a new series coming to Netflix on August 18. Set in 1946 in postwar Germany, The Defeated is about an American cop, Max McLaughlin, who goes to Berlin to find his missing brother. He also helps a German policewoman build a police force to fight violent crime in the city.
The show’s creators are Mäns Märlind (The Bridge) and Björn Stein (Underworld Awakening, Midnight Sun). For the main cast, the show stars Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights, Waco, True Detective), Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Logan Marshall-Green (Prometheus), Nina Hoss (Phoenix), Tuppence Middleton (Sense8), Maximilian Ehrenreich, Sebastian Koch, Mala Emde, Anne Ratte-Polle, Lena Dörrie, and Benjamin Sadler.

Previously known for his happy-go-lucky role in Friday Night Lights as Tim Higgins, Taylor Kitsch revealed to The Hollywood Reporter why he chose this series and why he’s trying to take on “darker” roles:
“I ask myself: “Does it scare me? Can I do it?” If it’s on the verge, where I’m scared I can’t do it, then I’m interested. Then, of course, it’s about who’s the director, what’s the subject matter, what’s the voice? But I think it’s the fear that drives me most of the time. I say to other actors I admire all the time: there are going to be things where you swing and miss, but there are going to be others where you hit it out of the park. Failure is OK. As long as it doesn’t completely end your career.”
It’s an action-packed show. If you’d like to know more, here’s a trailer, and it is pretty intense.
