“The Innocents” is Sinful
Sexy Supernatural Teens in Trouble

It’s a great time for fans of supernatural teenage lovebirds with bizarre powers. First, there was Cloak & Dagger on the Freeform network. Set in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, the story of star-crossed super-powered interracial teen romance has proven to be a hit with both teenagers and adults thanks to the dreamy chemistry between its leads and its science-fiction sensibilities.
Meanwhile, on Netflix, a new series is brewing which has the potential to be one of the most provocative and engaging new shows in a long time. The Innocents takes a much more mysterious and overtly dramatic approach to the idea of teenage lovers on the run from sinister forces while trying to understand their own other-worldly abilities.
Sorcha Groundsell and Percelle Ascott star as the romantic leads, June and Harry, while the handsome Guy Pearce (The Hurt Locker) stars as the scientist tracking their movements. Netflix is keeping plot details tightly under wraps, but part of the supernatural mystery apparently entails June possessing the power to change her appearance, shape-shifting into the form of a middle-aged man.
Along the lines of Stranger Things, about a supernatural girl and the boys who love her, hopefully The Innocents will manage to bring a strong mix of drama, romance, and mystery.
We’ll find out for sure when the eight-episode limited series debuts August 24 on Netflix.
