The show is far from Bridget Jones’ Diary. It’s draped in mystery and seduction is its primary language. Zellweger plays the role of a benefactor named Anne, and it’s the actress’ first recurring role in a TV series. Her job is to present good people hefty offers that are hard to refuse. As the morally just characters start veering toward the path of self-fulfillment, the choice ripples into their everyday lives. But don’t worry, Anne is there to watch it all go down.
The first season will follow newlyweds Lisa and Sean, played by Suburgatory star Jane Levy and Blake Jenner of Glee fame. Marriage costs a lot of money, so Anne provides them with some cash. But we have a feeling there is going to be a steep price because there are two sides to every deal. That might explain why Zellweger is dressed as Sharon Stone’s character in Basic Instinct; she’s out to seduce and reap the rewards. Fingers crossed that she’s also not wearing underwear.
