THE PLOT AGAINST AMERICA
HBO's Reimaginative Drama About FDR's Downfall

Revisionist history TV series and films can be jarring. It isn’t easy to imagine alternative history, but the stories often show us what we have is better than what could be. That’s the case with the upcoming HBO adaptation of The Plot Against America.
It is an adaptation of a Phillip Roth novel of the same name. It is set in 1932 when Franklin D. Roosevelt runs for president. Instead of his actual competitor, Charles Lindbergh (Ben Cole) puts his name in as a contender nominee. The beloved aviator was a known Nazi sympathizer and populist, which plays a huge part in this narrative. The six part series documents Lindbergh’s fictitious political rise and how he turns the nation toward fascism. The kicker is Lindbergh gets an endorsement from Rabbi Lionel Bengelsdorf (John Turturro). Also backing the controversial candidate is Evelyn Finkel (Winona Ryder).
The series comes from David Simon and Ed Burns, the team that brought you HBO’s The Wire. The Plot Against America is another captivating series designed to keep you on the edge of your seat. This thought-provoking show coincides with a big year in politics — but there are more politically themed shows ahead this year, too. Trust us on that.
