Apple TV+ has become one of the premier streaming services. Shows like The Foundation, Mythic Quest, and The Mosquito Coast have done wonders for its reputation. Apple looks to add to its repertoire of impressive shows with the upcoming drama series The Shrink Next Door. The show stars Paul Rudd, Kathryn Hahn, and Will Ferrell in an adaptation of real-life events surrounding psychiatrist Isaac Herschkopf and his manipulative relationships with his various patients.

A podcast of the same hosted by Joe Nocera premiered in 2019 with the same premise. It covered in detail these real-life events. The podcast ran for ten episodes and eventually won a Webby Award in 2020. After it gained popularity and remained the number one podcast on Apple podcasts for three weeks straight, it was then turned into a series by Apple.

Upon first glance, this show seemed like it would be a comedy with the presence of Paul Rudd and Will Ferrell. After watching the trailer, this is obviously not the case. We’re going to see a different side of the two actors as Rudd plays Isaac Herschkopf and Ferrell plays Martin Markowitz, one of his patients or should I say victims. The show will see Herschkopf attempt to control Merkowitz’s life for his own personal gain.

This is definitely an interesting premise with a great cast. It seems like one of those shows that wins an Emmy award but most people on social media will go “Never heard of this show” or “People actually watch Apple TV+?” If you don’t want to be one of those people then be sure to catch the premiere of The Shrink Next Door on Apple TV+ on November 12.
