THE WITCHER
Henry Cavill In Your New Netflix Obsession

It seems Netflix wants to fill that Game of Thrones-shaped void in your heart with a new fantasy obsession. It’s the The Witcher. The series, starring Man Of Steel’s Superman Henry Cavill, has already been picked up for season two. That’s an accomplishment because the first episode of season one hasn’t even aired.

The show is based on a series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. The first book was released in 1993 and the latest was published in 2013. It follows a witcher, a person who develops supernatural abilities at a young age to kill monsters. The protagonist, Geralt of Riva (Cavill), struggles to find his place in that fantasy world they live in. His faces a dilemma because he’s often confronted with evil people rather that demonic beasts.

The Witcher isn’t a display of whimsical fantasy. Instead, it’s draped in dark hues of sweeping, mysterious landscapes. The art direction and cinematography will leave you speechless. You will get lost in this fictional world where monsters lurk in every shadow. But Cavill is there with sword in hand to save himself and his world — well, we think that’s what he does. The first nine episodes drop Dec. 20 and the bingeing is already penciled in to our schedules.
