They’re Back!
I Know What You Did Last Summer

Amazon is creating a new series, and you may recognize the name. I Know What You Did Last Summer is a new show that revolves around a group of teenagers who are being stalked a year after a fatal accident on their graduation night. The idea for the show was first announced in 2014, but it’s only now coming to fruition.
The 1997 film performed so well and had a great cast (Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr, Sarah Michelle Gellar), so this will have to live up to the movie’s legacy, as well as the 1973 novel by Lois Duncan. There were two other movies in the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (1998), and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (2006), but those didn’t amount to nearly as much success. Most of what we know about the new show is that “the TV show promises to be something different than what fans might expect based on the original film.”
Not much else is known about the project. Still, the cast is full of new, young talent, including Brianne Tju (Scream: The TV Series), Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Bill Heck (Locke & Key), Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom, Chrissie Fit (Pitch Perfect 3), Danielle Delaunay, Spencer Sutherland, and Madison Iseman (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Annabelle Comes Home).

As far as directing and producing the series goes, many creative minds are behind it:
“On July 26, 2019, Amazon Studios announced it would develop a television series based on the 1973 novel I Know What You Did Last Summer by Lois Duncan. Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film are the executive producers, James Wan directs, and Shay Hatten writes. On October 14, 2020 …it was announced that Sara Goodman had replaced Hatten as the series writer. It was also announced that Goodman and Hatten would serve as executive producers, alongside Erik Feig of Original Film and Rob Hackett, Michael Clear, and Wan of Atomic Monster. On December 9, 2020, Craig William Macneill was announced as the director of the pilot as well as an executive producer.”
Season 1 will premiere on Prime on October 15 and will release episodes weekly. It will be eight episodes and a quick watch, but we’re hoping it’s great.
