Few TV shows come with such a stellar pedigree: Martin Scorsese directing the pilot, Mick Jagger as executive producer, Emmy-winner Bobby Cannavale tackling the lead. Still, it’s a slightly lesser known name that has PROVOKR most intrigued. Playing punk rock star Kip Stevens, James Jagger (Mick’s son with ex-wife Jerry Hall) may have finally landed the big acting break he’s been seeking ever since he took acting classes alongside Twilight star Robert Pattinson. Jagger—who has acted on the London stage and in small movies like 2010’s Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll and who has also been the frontman for the rock band Turbogeist—has made a point of building his career on his own. “I am trying to pay my dues,” he told the UK newspaper The Telegraph in 2007. “You have to earn respect in this industry. You set yourself up if you try and be showy, because if you do one bad job, your career is over.” But when the Kip Stevens part popped up on the show his dad was executive producing, the opportunity seemed perfectly suited for Jagger. “When I saw the role was being created, I thought, Well, wait a minute. They’re looking for a guy who likes this kind of music, can play it and can act as well,” said dad Mick. “[James] loves that kind of music—that kind of screaming racket. Not that I’ve got any objections to it, but I mean, he’s really into that. So I thought I’d put James into the mix. I’m very pleased with him.”
