Second to his stellar acting, there is one thing Sean Bean is known for: dying on screen. The English actor has died a whopping 23 times on screen, including in roles for Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones (Ned Stark), but Bean is leaving that monotony behind him.

“I’ve turned down stuff. I’ve said, ‘They know my character’s going to die because I’m in it!’” Bean told The Sun. “I just had to cut that out and start surviving, otherwise it was all a bit predictable.”

Bean’s TV career predates his one-season stint on HBO’s Game of Thrones, though nothing was quite at the level of the epic fantasy drama. Since his character’s demise in 2011, Bean has definitely appeared more frequently on our smaller screens.

It all started with the crime drama Legends, in which Bean plays an operative with a knack for taking on different personas. Then he went on to act in Broken, The Frankenstein Chronicles, The Oath, Medici, Curfew and World on Fire — all from 2014 to 2019. Cranking out TV show after TV show is an impressive feat not many could do, but his busy career doesn’t end there.

Bean will make his Snowpiercer debut in its sophomore season. He plays Joseph Wilford, who was played by Ed Harris in the 2013 Bong Joon-ho film starring Chris Evans. In the second season of Snowpiercer, fans will get to see how Bean’s character and Layton (Daveed Diggs) formed the train’s class-focused system.

That’s not all Bean has in store for us, though. He is also set to appear in a crime drama called Time for which not much info has been disclosed. Then he returns to film with the animated film Watch the Skies

Bean is a dependable actor — one we can guarantee any role will be performed at a top-tier level. PROVOKR is looking forward to seeing him on our screens again very soon.
