Our Kind of People

Our Kind of People is a new Fox series based on the novel “Our Kind of People: Inside America’s Black Upper Class” by Lawrence Otis Graham. The series follows Angela Vaugh (Yaya DaCosta) as she works to reclaim her family’s name. On her journey, she uncovers a dark secret from her mother’s past. It premiered on September 21 on Fox but can be watched on Hulu as well!

Ordinary Joe

Ordinary Joe is a new NBC show that’s also available on Hulu. It focuses on the question of ‘what if?’ It revolves around one man, Joe Kimbrough (James Wolk), and how each life path he could’ve chosen would’ve given him a completely different ending. Joe has the power to see the result from each life path. When it comes down to it, there is no ‘right’ choice for life.

Ankahi Kahaniya

Ankahi Kahaniya is a new Netflix movie about the forms and kinds of love different people experience. It follows several people and their relationships and focuses on their triumphs and failures, all in the name of love.

A Million Little Things

A Million Little Things is finally back for its fourth season! It premiered Wednesday, so the good news is that it’ll be available for our weekend binge. You can watch it on ABC. (And, if you haven’t watched the series already, this is your sign to start.)

Jailbirds: New Orleans

Jailbirds: New Orleans is a new docu-series on Netflix that shows the lives of incarcerated women. It’s a reality show, so be prepared for genuine, raw emotion to emerge (and many good stories, too!). It’ll be available to stream on Friday on Netflix.

Nuclear Family

Nuclear Family is a three-part documentary series that will be available exclusively on HBO. Filmmaker Ry Russo Young tells her story about growing up with gay parents in the late 70s/early 80s and the legal battle they endured that threatened to destroy their family. The first episode will air on September 26—so be sure to watch on HBO Max.
