WHAT 2 WATCH THIS WEEKND
10.1.21 The Guilty, Maid, No One Gets Out Alive+

No One Gets Out Alive
No One Gets Out Alive is a new horror movie that dropped on Netflix on September 29, just in time for the spooky season. Of course, there’s no better way to spend all of October than to watch new and old scary movies. This film revolves around Amber (Cristina Rodlo), an immigrant searching for the American Dream. She moves to what she hopes is a decent boarding house. Instead of making her dream true, though, she meets her nightmare.
The Guilty
The Guilty is a new Netflix thriller coming to theaters and Netflix on October 1. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal as 911 dispatcher Joe Baylor. He receives a call from a woman in grave danger and does everything to find her and keep her alive. The trailer alone gives me chills. It’s going to be a good one—plus, it’s Jake Gyllenhaal.
Maid
Maid is a Netflix original movie about Alex, a young mother. She leaves an abusive relationship and starts working as a maid to overcome poverty and potential homelessness to create a better life for her daughter. The film stars familiar faces such as Margaret Qualley, Nick Robinson, and Andie MacDowell (Qualley’s real mom.) It’ll premiere on Netflix on October 1.
The Many Saints of Newark
The Many Saints of Newark is finally here! Finally, you can watch a young Tony Soprano’s beginnings in The Sopranos prequel. It opens in theaters and streams on HBO Max beginning on October 1.
The Way Down
The Way Down is a new HBO docu-series about Gwen Shamblin’s cult-like teachings and practices. The series takes a deep dive into Gwen and her dangerous connections between church and weight loss, specifically a diet program that links slenderness to God.
NFL Icons
Love football? Perfect! You’ll be happy to hear that a new eight-part NFL docu-series drops on October 2 exclusively on EPIX. Each one-hour episode focuses on a single-player and shows how their career blossomed through archive footage.
