THE GREAT SEASON 2
Elle Fanning and Nicholas Hoult are back for season 2 of the fan-favorite The Great. The Hulu series follows Catherine The Great on her rise in Russia. This season, she’s pregnant, which is bound to bring a lot of drama to the Empire. We can’t wait to see what happens in the zany period piece.
LIES AND DECEIT (MENTIRAS)
This Spanish thriller premiered in Spain early in the pandemic, and Netflix picked up its global release. The series follows both sides of a legal battle involving a woman who believes she was drugged and raped and the man who allegedly did it. With unreliable characters, you’ll be wondering if either of them is being truthful.
TIGER KING SEASON 2
It’s the sequel we didn’t know was happening. The Netflix hit Tiger King got a season 2 that follows other big cat owners, including Carole Baskin. We also get a look at Joe Exotic in prison.
COWBOY BEBOP
The hit anime is getting a live-action adaptation. John Cho stars as a member of a ragtag group, adding star power to a series that has garnered a lot of buzz.
TICK, TICK… BOOM!
Andrew Garfield is making a comeback — in hopefully more ways than one. His first major feature Tick, Tick… Boom! is a semi-autobiographical adaptation of a Broadway musical and is directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda for Netflix. It also stars Vanessa Hudgens, so there is a lot to look forward to.
THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS
The title is a lot raunchier than the season looks, but that’s terrific marketing. The HBO series is a comedy that tracks college women.
KING RICHARD
Will Smith is gunning for an Oscar with King Richard. The film, on HBO Max for 30 days, tells the story of Venus and Serena Williams’ dad, Richard. It’s an untold story that should dominate the awards circuit.
THE WHEEL OF TIME
Rosamund Pike is the lead of the Amazon Prime series The Wheel of Time. She plays a woman named Moiraine in the high-fantasy world from the Robert Jordan novel of the same name. When she comes in contact with five young men and women, she embarks on a dangerous journey.
