The World Ends On Netflix

The End of the F***ing World is Awesome AF

There’s something for everybody on Netflix. The streaming giant doesn’t specifically cater to any particular demographic, and that’s just the way we like it here at PROVOKR There’s nothing more creatively stifling than treating people like bales of hay, to be compartmentalized and filed away. Anyone can watch any show. If a work of art is great, then everybody should have the chance to consume it.

The End of the F*king World follows two teenaged misfits as they embark on a road trip. The boy, James (Alex Lawther) is almost certainly a straight-up psychopath, and the girl, Alyssa (Jessica Barden), is the rebellious wild child he chooses to be his first-ever murder victim. The two kids slowly begin falling in love during their adventure, which creates a problem for James’s murderous ambitions.

The show wasn’t produced directly by Netflix, but they are responsible for bringing this British show to American shores. The series runs for eight 22-minute episodes and can be binge-watched in just a few hours. No matter what arbitrary generation the show seems to be aimed at—we’re talking to you, Millennials—The End of the F***ing World is a pitch-black comedy well-worth the time investment for any age. People are people, regardless of what demographic they were born into. And art is art, whether it’s a television show, a movie, a book or a song. If it’s good and has a message worth hearing, it deserves to be seen and heard by all.

The End of the F***ing World is currently streaming on Netflix.
