7 Perfect Lyric Videos
From the new art form in music

We really spent hours searching for the very best executions of official music lyric videos. The lyric video truly has become an art form. The artist seems to care a lot about their production and someone is spending lots of money on some of these. Some are austere, some are acted out, some are animated, some are insanely projected and some are beautifully edited. Here are our favorites in no particular order:
Marshmello – “Silence”
Marshmello’s lyric video for “Silence” is our favorite for it’s use of moving projection of the lyrics and images on a dimly lit room of boxes and a wall as it’s background. Simple, yet incredibly well executed, it is simply the masterpiece of lyric videos. This one belongs at MoMA.
Justin Beiber – “Sorry”
Justin Bieber’s machine composed this incredibly well acted out lyric video for “Sorry” starring Lauren Hudson Petrilli. The special effects of the lyrics appearing all over her home is mind boggling as she struggles to escape from them.
Shawn Mendes – “Life of the Party”
Shawn Mendes at the beginning of his career did a lyric video for “Life of the Party.” What is so stunning is that it is one continuous shot with a slow zoom in on Mendes with his brooding eyes and lyrics. All set in a diner with only a waitress. A perfect introduction for the aspiring singer.
Katy Perry – “Birthday”
Katy Perry and her team did a stupendous job on “Birthday.” We are lost in a fantasy bakery of great editing of every confection known to man as a cake is assembled and the words appear cleverly on the ingredients somehow and line up superbly with the vocal. Very gurl and colorful just like Perry herself.
Zedd, Maren Morris – “The Middle”
Zedd featuring Marren Morris and his team delivered “The Middle” as a lyric video in top technical form. The lyrics are projected in every way imaginable. This video came out only five days before the Zedd’s music video of the same song and still boasts more views than the music video itself.
5 Seconds of Summer – “Don’t Stop”
The boys from 5 Seconds of Summer become comic book super heroes in this clever video for “Don’t Stop.” The essential words are dropped in to punch up the lyrics in the comic book adventure of Luke, Calum, Michael and Ashton.
The Chainsmokers – “Closer”
The Chainsmokers featuring Halsey for “Closer” still ranks among the most watched lyric videos with more than 2 billion views. That is crazy. It is acted by a couple reunited after 4 years who are in love and the lyrics appear handwritten over the LA images on the beach, in an apartment and driving in that rover. Sexy and so successful.
