Acid Girls’ The Numbers Song
Another dark stunner form Taylor Cohen
Taylor Cohen’s short film The Numbers Song is dark and crazy. The film was directed by Cohen and Otto Arsenault and they also did the producing. The cinematographer is Jonathan Narducci. Somehow in a few minutes we are enveloped in a complete thriller with an unexpected horrifying twist. They blew our minds. Several girls are crashing at a rock star’s home and things quickly come undone, so very undone. The treatment of the the cinematography itself as a character was brilliant. The home security cameras catching everything and everyone in every room is frightening and beautifully realized.
The film was made in 2009 and Taylor Cohen has gone on to direct music videos for Billie Eilish and Nicki Minaj. He directed a full length film Acid Girls which must have been born from this video that we are showing. Taylor Cohen also did the short film Strobe this year and we loved it’s forbidding dark combinations. Taylor Cohen also directed the six of the episodes of the series Gods of Medicine. Get this man to direct some more feature length films and show us his cinema dreams or maybe cinema nightmares would be a better phrase. The Numbers Song is a killer.
