BROCKHAMPTON’S BUZZCUT
A Visual Trip Akin To The '90s

“Buzzcut,” the latest hit from the boyband, BROCKHAMPTON, features Danny Brown and highlights lyrics like, “I reckon ima keep my black ass out of jail.” The band has been around since 2016, premiering its first record, ALL AMERICAN TRASH. Their following work has involved a Saturation series (1, 2, and 3) which featured an exciting collection of songs. The band is made up of 13 members with a variety of skills and talents.

Jabari Manwa produces this video, and Dan Brown contributes a verse to the band. There are breaks in the track where another member of the band, Joba, comes in to sing. The group has never looked better, and the music they’re creating adds up to a powerful ensemble that lives up to the band’s hype.
The group comes together as a collective in this piece. There is a response to criticism about band member Amir, accused of hitting a woman and then being removed from the group. The band released two albums following the commotion, which were IRIDESCENCE and GINGER. Both albums were critically acclaimed and found an audience. The band works out their sound in this feature and takes on a Harvard style of performance as the group expands its aesthetic again. The aesthetic of this video is fresh and features an active set of cues that prompt the audience to watch it.
The lyrics are added to by Danny Brown, who pops up with a stellar verse. The video is good. PROVOKR loves it.
