Whitey: United States of America v. James Bulger is about James “Whitey” Bulger, an organized crime leader charged with multiple felonies in a series of cases that exposed corruption charges in the FBI. In the documentary, James “Whitey” Bulger committed crimes such as murder and racketeering and landed him on several FBI Most Wanted lists (alongside figures like Osama Bin Laden). Upon arrest, James Bulger was indicted and labeled as an informant for the FBI during his time as the Winter Hill gang leader, a Boston-based notorious, violent gang.
The documentary focuses on the FBI’s involvement and close relationship with Bulger. The FBI denied any connection to Bulger, and high-level FBI agents like John Morris worked with the gangster. Bulger’s brother was a legitimate power broker and served as a Massachusetts State Senator and fiercely protective of his crime-boss brother.
