Daphne Guinness

The Fashion Heiress Records "Five Planets"

BY: PROVOKR Editors

Daphne Guinness is best known for being the wealthy heiress to the Guinness fortune, but the fifty-year-old socialite is also known for dabbling in the worlds of fashion designing, art collecting, and philanthropy.

Her latest hobby is music. Her debut album, Optimist in Black, was released in 2016, and her latest record, Daphne & The Golden Chord, is brand new. Both records are produced by legendary music icon Tony Visconti, who is best known for his work with the likes of David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, T. Rex, and Semi Precious Weapons, among many others.

The lead single from Daphne & The Golden Chord is the Bowie-esque “Five Planets.” Daphne’s trance-inducing vocals and Visconti’s signature Western-tinged production style (dig those guitar sounds!) makes the song sound like a lost remake of a forgotten track from The Man Who Sold the World.

The music video, directed by Nick Knight of SHOWstudio.com, is a provocative and visually-engaging piece, replete with hypnotic special effects and a monolith evocative of the Kubrick classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Daphne herself only appears fleetingly in the video, but she certainly leaves an impression, as she does with everything she touches.

Daphne & The Golden Chord is available now on the Agent Anonyme label.
