Marine Serre‘s film Amor Fati was created during lockdown in Paris. During that lockdown pause, the french designer and her creative team had time to think about the brand’s path into the future. The results in both the collection for Spring 2021 and the film are out of this world — or are they?

Marine Serre is an emerging French 27-year-old designer already embraced by Beyoncé and other celebrities. She said about making the film and the collection during lockdown, “It gave me some time to reflect. It’s not easy. Things are changing faster than we can.” The collection is as impressive as the film is shocking. Her pieces for Spring 2021 are terrific utilitarian looks for men and women all with her ever present crescent moon worked in beautifully. She was strongly influenced by riding a bicycle so everything you see she wanted to be able to wear on a bike. The collection could be divided into different groups or tribes as she does in the film.

We see in the film a timeless parade of events and fashion with countless strange characters bringing you into their particular world, the worlds of the imagination of Marine Serre and directors Sacha Barbin and Ryan Doubiago. Two individuals in the film navigate between parallel existences and as if a twisted, futuristic Romeo and Juliet they both take a leap of faith into the unknown. The characters travel through sterile and hostile environments where each tribe or clan performs their own frightening rites of passage.

It is a gloomy utopia for sure but at least we will have these stunning looks to wear and we can always ride away on a bike.
