GO BEHIND THE SCENES
Eternals: Gemma Chan, Kit Harington, Angelina Jolie+

The latest featurette for Marvel Studios’ The Eternals gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the epic, Chloé Zhao-directed, star-studded sci fi action drama.
Starring Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lauren Ridloff, Kit Harrington, Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek and more, the film tells the story of a race of immortal beings who have shadowed humankind throughout history and join forces once more to protect them from their evil counterparts known as The Deviants.

As producers Kevin Feige (“Black Panther”, “Avengers: Endgame”) and Nate Moore (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”, “Captain America: Civil War”) explain, “[The Eternals] explores the very creation of the Marvel Cinematic Universe itself” – “It deals with the aftermath of Avengers 4 and the state the world is in.”
But it’s more than a superhero movie.
Director Chloé Zhao emphasizes the importance of capturing the human element:
“We go on this emotional journey with The Eternals to find out who they are and what it means to be human.”
To this end, both the cast and the cast of characters represent the sort of diverse faces from around the world that are generally absent from the big screen.
In addition to racial and ethnic diversity, the MCU also gets its first deaf superhero with the casting of American actress Lauren Ridloff (“The Walking Dead”, “Sound of Metal”) as Makkari.
More than anything, The Eternals is about redefining what a superhero looks like. As fellow cast member Angelina Jolie boasts, “A lot of people are going to see themselves as superheroes for the first time.”
The Eternals will be released exclusively in theaters on November 5th, 2021.
