During the casting phase for The Godfather, Robert De Niro did his best to land the role of Sonny Corleone. The bad news: this screen test didn’t quite cut it and De Niro was denied the part. The good news? De Niro, who got the chance to play a young Vito Corleone in The Godfather: Part II, went on to win a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for the role.
