JAY, A SIMPLE MAN

Or Not So Much

BY: Dante Fresse

Jay is a powerful piece concerning a painter who channels his art through telekinetic process–he channels the spirit of people, pets and finds their relationship to God. Jay is an intersex man with a tormented history of psychological abuse as a result of his unique condition. Jay describes years of abuse from peers as a child, along with alcohol and substance abuse following into his adulthood.

Jay experiences freedom in his life. He underwent mental and psychological abuse but emerged as a healer, ready to take on challenges Jay uses his gift to bring serenity to others who feel lost. Through his art emerges spiritual guidance. He talks about AA and the rehabilitation he went through after taking drugs. Despite his harsh circumstances, he says all roads in his life led him back to God. Jay says he was levitated one day, after an AA meeting, and a spirit lifted him from his addiction. After the paranormal experience, Jay no longer felt the urge to do drugs.

As a child, Jay prayed that his body would change and he would be a man. This destroyed him. Jay remembers waking each morning to female breasts and scroning the very God he praised. Moreover, Jay describes that cult members in his family raped him–worshipping evil demons during the events and scarring him permanently. Jay leaves a reminder for the viewers of this film, saying to endure hardships now because they will emerge as healing lessons in the future.

The video is directed by Nicolas Duarte, and produced by Drew Grubich, Sofia Campbell, and Frank Armandarez. Will Turner is the cinematographer. Overall this piece is gorgeous and important to see. PROVOKR knows you need to watch it to see a man on the edge of his life fight for freedom and a life worth living in the future.
