Kristen Stewart’s First

Watch Her Directorial Debut, Come Swim, Here

A meditative piece about loss—of mind, heart, soul—is the subject of the debut short film by actor Kristen Stewart. Come Swim opens as we watch a young man (Josh Kaye) come to the surface of appears to be a watery grave, while overhearing his quiet conversations with a lover he recently lost. The film reminds us of an impressionistic painting, alluding to everything the man is feeling: loss, confusion, and thirst. Water is a theme Kristen explores, how it can kill you and easily as save you. Much like love.

Beautifully shot by John Guleserian, especially the oceanic scenes, and sumptuously scored by St. Vincent, Come Swim is at once calming and unsettling, and a lovely piece by an up-and-coming visionary. We expect to see a lot of films directed by the insightful Kristen Stewart.
