She never ever disappoints. So in an emotional acceptance speech at the GLAAD Awards last week she made us cry, cheer and feel stronger, braver. PROVOKR presents an exclusive, unedited version of Madonna’s speech. We all had tears in our eyes when she talked of the eighties and all her friends dying of AIDS. Madonna wiped away tears as well and was visibly shaken recounting her visits to St. Vincents’s hospital in NYC’s West Village to hold dying AIDS patients in her arms, At the time doctors and nurses were even avoiding this wing of one floor of the hospital. This mysterious disease that was killing the creativity of her part of the world downtown New York City was horrifying. Hardly anyone was venturing up to visit on that floor. Doctors and nurses stayed out and avoided those patients if they could. It was terrifying everyone. Everyone except Madonna.
