“Squeegee” is a SXSW award-winning short. Its setting is Toronto, where a busy executive meets a window washer. They engage in an erotic encounter on both sides of a window. But after five minutes of bliss, they get caught by the exec’s assistant. They jerk off on one another, and Lori, the executive, washes the window afterward. She leaves the building and sees the window washer. She immediately runs from him, and the film ends.

This comedy is ten minutes long and directed/written by Morgan Krantz. You can find it on Vimeo under “Staff Picks.”  The cast includes Amy Rutherford as Lori, Blair Mckenzie as the window washer, and Emily Jane King as the assistant. “Squeegee’s”   director of photography is Alan Kelly, and the art director is Olivia Bednar. James Rathbone co-produces.

This film is funny, weird, and esoteric but hot and steamy to watch. Mckenzie brings a sexiness to the window washer.  Amy Rutherford is hot and loose as Lori. The emotion is intense–the viewer doesn’t know the assistant will interrupt the love session, that we aren’t sure how the two are pulling it off. They immediately move on once the jerk-off is over, and when they see each other again, there’s no hint of intimacy.

Krantz illustrates tension within the workplace, showing how the business world culture can create malaise and sexual tension. “Squeegee” is funny and entertaining. If you need a laugh, we here at PROVOKR love it, so check it out.
