The Audition is a 2015 short promotional film directed by Martin Scorsese.  It never had a commercial release and was made to promote the Studio City Macau Resort and Casino. Macau is an independent city-state of China. The film was made to showcase the resort because no commercial casino advertising is allowed in China. It  features Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio playing fictionalized versions of themself. The plot isn’t serious, they are auditioning against each other for a role in a fictional Scorsese movie and spend a lot of time discussing blackjack. Brad Pitt makes a cameo appearance.  It is produced by Melco Crown Entertainment, Ratpac Entertainment, and RSA Films.

Scorsese also acts in this film and is hilarious. The dynamic between DiCaprio and De Niro is great–they compete and play the game of acting as they dive in the same role. Jealousy overtakes both characters as they attempt to make a fool of one another.  It moves through three countries and three characters in 19 minutes.  Right now it isn’t available for streaming on typical apps, but it is available on YouTube.
