The Devil All the Time is an upcoming psychological thriller with a fantastic ensemble cast. The movie, set in Knockemstiff, Ohio (yes, Knockemstiff is a real place), follows a group of underhanded characters as they attempt to fight a young man. A trailer for the movie was just released, let’s take a look at it now. The preview opens at a small birthday dinner for young Arvin Russell (Tom Holland). He is given a gun that was supposedly his father’s “brought back from the war.” We then see flashbacks of this war. The trailer introduces the cast while a narrator explains “how and why people from two points on a map, without even a straight line between them, can be connected, is at the heart of our story in Knockemstiff.”

The film promises an exciting array of characters, with Robert Pattinson playing a sleazy preacher whom Arvin immediately distrusts and Jason Clarke playing a photographer who may give off some serial killer vibes. We do not know whether Riley Keough will be his accomplice or his victim. We gather from the trailer that Arvin will use the gun he was given to right his town of its wrongs, even if that means taking out a few seedy characters along the way.

Antonio Campos directed the movie from a script he co-wrote with Paulo Campos. It is based on Donald Ray Pollock’s novel of the same name. The rest of the ensemble includes Bill Skarsgård, Sebastian Stan, Haley Bennett, Eliza Scanlen and Mia Wasikowska. The Devil All the Time is scheduled to be released on Netflix on September 16, 2020.
