The Glorious Night Swim
Vince's Silver Lake film by Zal Batmanglij

Zal Batmangilij, the amazing writer and director of the returning series The OA, directed this very cinematic short film for Vince. He used Hollywood’s sultry nightscape and the sounds and imagery of the Paramour estate, to deliver a perfect look at Vince’s Spring 2019 collection. Zal tells a rich story of a carefree and rebellious group who break in to skinny dip in a locked old Hollywood mansion’s gated grounds. The pool and the house and grounds are more than just a backdrop, they enforce the entire story and show the clothes sublimely. The film is Zal’s fantasy — breaking into the Paramour estate for a midnight swim.
The fashion looks are captured beautifully from cashmere to gold silk and the Vince staples are there too the perfect t-shirts and basics. Ten or so night trespassers dare to break in to the gated grounds and the clothes come off and they plunge all together into the pool. Throughout there is a feeling of mystery, just like in The OA, a mystery of faces and the expressions in the faces. The characters are so well cast and as a woman roller skates by in a long red dress you wonder how they all came together and yet you feel the connections from one to another. It’s a fabulous night for Vince and for Zal Batmanglij.
