Jim Kempner‘s Madness of Art is a very fun, satiric series that looks up close at the art world. Not many are brave enough to put on display the silliness that is part of the orchestrated pretense of the contemporary art scene. Jim does and he does it in a mockumentary style that works. His stand up comedian days of his youth shine throughout. PROVOKR will begin running the short form film series here on the Video channel.

Jim Kempner is a well known and highly respected member of the New York City gallery world. He has a magnificent gallery and the first in Chelsea. For The Madness of Art, Jim writes, directs and stars with a host of well known artists, actors, his real staff and the occasional UPS guy. Most everything you see is taken from true events that have happened in and around 23rd Street and Tenth Avenue. From transporting priceless paintings on a Citi bike to dropping and shattering a sold Jeff Koons balloon dog sculpture.

Artists drop by, buyers of all types are in the gallery and then there is Jim somehow always in the middle, muddling through the day and the adventures that seem to be lurking behind every piece of art.
