THE TENT (MATURE)
We Are As Sick As Our Secrets

The Tent is a short film directed by Norway’s Rebecca Figenschau. It follows a dysfunctional family of four as they struggle to set up a complicated tent while on a camping trip. Along with a wind that keeps pushing the tent away from the parents, each family member experiences an independent journey. The son sharpens a stick while the daughter attempts to post pictures on social media and keeps looking for the best spot to connect with WIFI.

Figenschau documents the life of this family. They struggle to communicate, and the tension and conflict force a disturbing family secret out into the open. The turmoil between parents affects the entire family.
Failure to come together as a “family” inspires the conflict, and the entire trip falls apart. The tent erupts into flames, and during the emergency, the wife reveals the secret. After the tent catches fire, the family leaves the scene abruptly, and the flaming tent is all that remains.
