The Best of Nan Goldin
A video of the Ballad of Sexual Dependency

A video set to music composed by David Lynch that walks you through legendary photographer Nan Goldin’s seminal work, The Ballad of Sexual Dependency. Goldin, who is also currently the focus of an exhibit at MOMA, started the Ballad as a slideshow of photos she’d taken in the late 1970s and early ’80s of her own experiences, the people she met and the lives they all led in Boston, New York and Berlin. “The Ballad of Sexual Dependency is the diary I let people read,” wrote Goldin of her work. “The diary is my form of control over my life. It allows me to obsessively record every detail. It enables me to remember.”
