Trilogies of New York City is a video compilation of the New York City urbanscape. The views range from pictures of classics like the Brooklyn Bridge to monuments that include the Freedom Tower. It starts with a bird’s eye view and soars over locations unique to the rhythm of the city.

Sam Morrison, or SamtheGoose, as his hashtag name suggests, is the creator of this video that relies on thousands of pictures taken over time. Morrison crowd-sourced the funding for this hyperlapse technique that turns still photography into motion and chronicles the pulse of the city. It shifts from an aerial perspective to ground level tracking of New York’s busy traffic intersections. Sam’s work is brilliant! It’s stunning to see the intensity of colors that shine from dawn to dusk. He creates a vivid tale of the city through his photography. He is a drone and street photographer, which adds layers and dynamism to his work.

It’s exciting to see this on the video platform Vimeo. The project used 1200 photos and fast-paced music amplifies it. Morrison layers his work with upbeat house music that generates tension and excitement. Overall, the highlights are the beginning and end’s aerial views that skim the rooftops of the buildings. It also pinpoints the scale and expansiveness of New York City. This video is a must-see. Here, at PROVOKR we recommend it for anyone looking for a fresh perspective of the Big Apple.
