My Favorite Murder Live
The True Crime Podcast That's Dead Sexy

Halloween Night, 2014, comedians Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark, then strangers, were hanging out with friends at a party when Hardstark overheard Kilgariff describing a particularly gruesome accident she had witnessed at SXSW. (A drunk driver crashed his truck into a group of people killing four.) The two about-to-be-best-friends were soon deep into a conversation about their favorite murders. JonBenét Ramsey’s mysterious death was their common ground. Ghoulish, yes, but with their killer senses of humor, not to mention a few cocktails, their deadly subject matter remained blithely spirited.
In January 2016, they launched the weekly podcast My Favorite Murder, with the two sitting down for an hour, sometimes two, to discuss the most notorious homicides throughout history and around the world. But that’s not all! They also have minisodes once a week, where they discuss “hometown” slayings, those insidious killings that often remain under the radar and off the front pages of national newspapers. To supplement that category, they invite friends and fans onto the show to detail their own, more local, stories of unlawful death.
The podcast is so popular, Hardstark and Kilgariff have taken it on the road to sold-out crowds…of mostly women. Interesting note: most fans of true crime are female. Who knew?
