Many of us are carving jack o’ lanterns and gearing up for Halloween, but it’s important to remember that October 31 isn’t the only important date coming up! Election Day, November 3, is only a few weeks away. Historically, things like voter suppression, the disparity in income and education, and lack of rights have kept many people from the polls. While voter turnout is slowly increasing, nearly 46% of people in the United States do not exercise their right to vote. To encourage people to cast their ballots, actors, actresses, and musicians have been using their platforms to encourage people to register and vote in the upcoming election. Between Halsey, Chris Evans, and Snoop Dog, the message is the same: make sure your voice is heard! Here is a list of eleven influential celebrities who hope to inspire people to get out and vote!

Taylor Swift

According to NBC News, Taylor Swift officially endorsed Joe Biden for President. In an Instagram post, she told fans, “Hey guys, it’s National Voter Registration Day today. The election is November 3. It’s really coming up and I’ve put together a swipe up of resources you can register if you’re a first time voter, check your registration, request an absentee ballot and you can figure out the process of voting early. We need everyone and it is more important than I can possibly say.”

Chris Evans

Chris Evans was featured in V Magazine, Captain America himself, explaining his position on our country’s divide. About our current president, he had this to say. “I disagree with a lot of Trump’s policies, and I personally have a very strong stance on that, which I vocalize on my social media. But my biggest concern is that his methodology is designed to divide. He has never once made an effort to bring us together.”

Cardi B

Cardi is using the wave of excitement from her hit song WAP to her advantage. She recently used her platform to interview Joe Biden, and it was terrific. Listen to what she had to say here!

Halsey

New Jersey native, Halsey, has been very involved in politics since her rise to fame. She has marched and protested in support of Black Lives Matters, and now she’s asking her fans to vote. In V Magazine, she said, “I’ve seen my fans line up outside of a venue for three days to get into a concert, and I’ve seen people line up outside of a GameStop because a new Call of Duty game is dropping. They should be doing the exact same thing at a polling center. It’s like, Go get in line!”

Billie Eilish

The green-haired vocal seductress took to Instagram, saying, “If you care about yourself, if you care about your friends and racial injustices and climate change, then you’ve gotta vote.” She also posted an incredibly pointed video expressing how important it is that people vote.

Jaden Smith

Musical artist and social media icon Jaden Smith has partnered with Snapchat to create an original series called “The Solution Committee.” In the Snapchat series, Smith educates and informs young people, and he asks everyone over 18 to vote on November 3. Check him out at @thecoolest.

Demi Lovato

Actress and billboard topping musician Demi Lovato performed a gut-punch of a single, ‘Commander in Chief,’ at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. The music speaks for itself, so if you haven’t heard it, you should!

Jennifer Lawrence

The actress who fought off an evil dictatorship in the dystopian Hunger Games saga urges people to do something about the world they live in. To encourage her fans to vote, she said, “voting is the foundation of our democracy and our freedom. And I would consider this upcoming election the most consequential of our lifetime. I’m voting for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris this year because Donald Trump has and will continue to put himself before the safety and well-being of America. He does not represent my values as an American, and most importantly as a human being.”

Ariana Grande & Lorde

Sensational singers Ariana Grande & Lorde are enticing fans with the promise of new music if they vote! Check out exactly how they used social media and their loyal fanbase to encourage voter registration.

Snoop Dogg

Ultimate music icon the D.O Double G himself decided that voting in the 2020 election was of utmost importance. He’s never registered to vote before, and he took to YouTube to show people how easy it is to get it done. He equates his first time as a registered voter to his first time getting high, and the best part about it is that he never even puts his blunt down!

No matter where you fall in terms of the political spectrum, it’s more important than ever to make sure you get the representation you deserve. Whether you are rocking out to ‘Commander in Chief’ or chilling with Snoop Dog, make sure that you locate your polling station. It’s time to earn yourself an “I Voted” sticker!
