MARVELOUS MANK’S SCREENPLAY
The One the Oscars Should Not Have Snubbed

Mank is the most-nominated film at the Academy Awards this year, so to say it has been snubbed feels weird. But that’s exactly what we’re about to say.
The one category it wasn’t nominated in but should have been was Best Original Screenplay. Mank was scripted by director David Fincher’s father, Jack, who died in 2003. Then there is the added layer that the movie is about the screenwriter for Citizen Kane, Herman Mankiewicz. Meanwhile, the only Oscar Citizen Kane won was for its screenplay.
So, at the center of this film is a poignant script about a screenwriter. The fact it wasn’t nominated for Best Original Screenplay is one of the biggest snubs of the year — even though the film itself is nominated for 10, including Best Picture.
In honor of the film, we’re giving you access to read the script for yourself. Then, follow it up with a Mank viewing party. Read the script here.
