The Script For Lazarus
Shameless is sadly coming to an end with season 11. PROVOKR is a fan of Shameless, so we’re sad to see such an amazing show end. Let’s be honest, though, the series hasn’t been the same since Fiona (Emmy Rossum) left. But as we prep for the final episode, we’re looking back on the best moments from the show, starting with the script for season 4 episode 12, “Lazarus.”
The season four finale gave each of the cast members time to shine and set up their season five story arch. In it, we learn Ian is bi-polar, which brings so much recognition to an often misunderstood mental illness. Then there’s Fiona, who gets released early from a rehab facility after passing a drug test. She then gets a job waiting tables and reconnects with her family. She also dedicates her life to sobriety from that moment forward.
But the biggest moment comes for Frank (William H. Macy) who regains his sense of reality after his liver transplant. In the last iconic scene, he goes to a frozen Lake Michigan with a bottle of whiskey. Will he drink it? Will he throw it out? For a second, you think the surgery has changed him — until he take a swig and screams a big “fuck you” at the sky. It really demonstrates one of Shameless’s most pervasive themes: Sometimes you just can’t change people.
