Something In The Water

Downton Abbey Actor Catherine Steadman Debuts

Looking for the perfect beach read? Look no further than the thrilling suspense drama, Something in the Water. From the very first page, you will be caught in the web of mystery surrounding Erin, a documentary filmmaker, and Mark, a recently unemployed investment banker, a British couple on an exotic honeymoon in Bora Bora.

The seemingly perfect couple keep lots of secrets from each other and things only escalate when they are scuba diving far from the shores of paradise, and find “something in the water.” We can reveal that they discover a locked duffle bag, but suffice it to say, what’s in it is life-changing, dangerous, and definitely not worth the trouble it causes.

In a surprising twist, this tight page-turner is written by actor Catherine Steadman, who most Americans know for her role on Downton Abbey, playing the sharp and unflappable Mabel Lane Fox, the heiress who had an eye on Lady Mary’s suitor, Lord Gillingham.

Did the bourgeoning author write this novel with the hopes of playing Erin herself? Time will only tell as the film rights have already been optioned by 20th Century Fox with eagle-eye-for-talent actress Reese Witherspoon attached to produce. We expect a lot of gorgeous British actors will be auditioning for this juicy role, including Emily Blunt (The Quiet Place), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl), and Emma Watson (Harry Potter series). Good luck, ladies!
