We’ve made it to the dog days of summer. Are you as ready for this blistering heat to end as I am? Personally, I’d like to keep the heat onscreen and not feel like I’m stepping into a fetid steam room every time I venture outside my apartment. With the end of summer fast approaching, it’s time to look forward to some exciting movies coming this Fall. Are you ready to curl up in a cozy sweater with a glass of mulled wine or hot apple cider and check out these movies? Let’s have a look at what we can expect this Autumn.

ONSLAUGHT

Dan Stevens is gracing our screens yet again with another one of his freaky weirdo characters in Onslaught, and we are so here for that. This upcoming sci-fi action film stars Adria Arjona as an army sniper living in a trailer park who finds herself having to defend her family against super soldiers. Rounding out the cast are Alex Pereira, Reginald VelJohnson, Michael Biehn, Drew Starkey, and Rebecca Hall. Onslaught was directed by Adam Wingard, with a screenplay by Simon Barrett, story by Wingard and Barrett. Onslaught bounds into theaters September 4, 2026.

 

THE UPRISING

 

This star-studded historical action film stars Andrew Garfield as the leader of a brutal rebellion against King Richard II, who ascended to the throne at the ripe old age of 10 before being deposed at 33, thus plunging England into The War of the Roses — at least, according to William Shakespeare. The stacked cast includes Jamie Bell, Stephen Dillane, Tom Hollander, Thomasin McKenzie, Johnny Lee Miller, and Katherine Waterston. The Uprising was written and directed by Paul Greengrass. It will be released on September 11, 2026.

RESIDENT EVIL

 

Zach Cregger made a name for himself in the horror sphere with 2022’s Barbarian, and now the former The Whitest Kids U’ Know comedian is directing his own adaptation of the beloved video game Resident Evil. The horror movie stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser. Cregger co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten. Resident Evil hits theaters September 18, 2026.

VERITY

Colleen Hoover sure has carved out a name for herself with multiple books being adapted for the silver screen. Whether you’re a fan or not, there’s no denying she’s everywhere these days. This twisty story about a writer who is hired to finish another author’s work after a mysterious accident stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, and Josh Hartnett. The script was written by Nick Antosca, adapted from the Hoover’s book of the same name, and directed by Michael Showalter. Verity will be released October 2, 2026.

FJORD

Cristian Mungiu wrote and directed this legal thriller/family drama which won the Palme d’Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival. It stars Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve as a conservative Romanian/Norwegian couple who move to the wife’s progressive hometown. It is based on the real-life story of the Bodnariu family. It will be released on October 9, 2026.

SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

If you are unfamiliar with Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility by now, where have you been hiding? Filmmakers have been adapting the famous novel for the screen since 1971, and now, we’re getting a new version directed by Georgia Oakley, from a script by Diana Reid. The star-studded cast includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Caitríona Balfe, Frank Dillane, George MacKay, and Fiona Shaw. It will be released on October 16, 2026.

KLARA AND THE SUN

Jenna Ortega stars in this dystopian movie about genetic engineering as an android who is bought by Amy Adams to be a companion to her sick child, played by Mia Tharia. The movie was co-written by Taika Waititi and Dahvi Waller, and adapted from Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel of the same name. It was directed by Waititi. Natasha Lyonne and Steve Buscemi also star in the film. It will be released on October 23, 2026.

GODZILLA MINUS ZERO

Picking up 2 years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, Godzilla Minus Zero continues to follow the trials and tribulations of the Shikishima family as they face new disasters. The movie was written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki. Godzilla Minus Zero comes out on November 6, 2026.

WILD HORSE NINE

John Malkovich, Sam Rockwell, Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits, and Parker Posey star in this upcoming black comedy about a pair of CIA agents sent to Easter Island in the time period leading up to the 1973 Chilean coup. Wild Horse Nine was written and directed by Martin McDonagh. It will be released on November 6, 2026.

HOW TO ROB A BANK

Zoë Kravitz, Nicholas Hoult, Pete Davidson, John C. Reilly, and Christian Slater star in this upcoming action/comedy/heist film about a group of bank robbers who use social media to document their heists. If Point Break is your jam, this might just be the movie for you. How to Rob a Bank was written by Mark Bianculli and directed by David Leitch. It is set to release November 13, 2026.

MINOTAUR

Hot from the Cannes film festival, where it won the Grand Prix, this Russian political thriller was quickly acquired by streaming service Mubi. The film follows a business exec who discovers his wife is having an affair, while his business is also crumbling around him. Minotaur was directed by Andrey Zvyagintsev from a script he co-wrote with Simon Lyashenko. It will be released on Mubi on November 20, 2026.

PAPER TIGER

This crime drama written and directed by James Gray follows two brothers who try to start a successful business in 1980s Queens, NY only to find themselves running afoul of the Russian mob. The film stars Adam Driver and Miles Teller as the two brothers whose sibling bond is tested, while Scarlett Johansson stars as Teller’s wife. Paper Tiger is set for release on November 20, 2026.

THE ADVENTURES OF CLIFF BOOTH

Set 8 years after the event of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, The Adventures of Cliff Booth follows titular stuntman Cliff Booth, who has now become a “studio fixer.” Brad Pitt returns as Booth, while David Fincher takes over the director’s helm from Quentin Tarantino, who wrote the script. Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Timothy Olyphant also star in the film. The Adventures of Cliff Booth will be released on November 25, 2026.
