David Oyelowo has been a busy man. Last year, he appeared in films such as The Water Man, The Bastard King, and The Midnight Sky. This year, he’s starred in films such as Chaos Walking and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway. Oyelowo’s upcoming projects will also see him star in more films while also returning to television.
The first of these films is See How They Run, a whodunit set on a movie set in 1950s London. The film will feature Sam Rockwell and Saoirse Ronan as its main characters while David Oyelowo will have a supporting role. Although nothing has been revealed about his character, we do know that his name is Mervyn Cocker-Norris. This film will have a comedic tone. Oyelowo is no stranger to comedy as he starred in the 2018 dark comedy Gringo. A trailer should be released at any time now since it has already been filmed and will release next year.
Another film starring Oyelowo that will release next year is Solitary directed by Nate Parker director of 2016’s Birth of a Nation. The film is about a man who is released from solitary confinement after seven years. Oyelowo will star as the film’s protagonist Chris Newborn. This is just one film that Parker and Oyelowo are working on together. Parker is also set to direct Sweet Thunder, a biopic on boxing legend Sugar Ray Leonard with Oyelowo portraying Leonard. This biopic is in pre-production with an unknown release date.
If you’re planning on staying home and avoiding theater crowds during this pandemic, then you’ll have the chance to catch David Oyelowo on television. He’ll be starring in The Girl Before, which will air on BBC and HBOMax later this year. The show will star Loki’s Gugu Mbatha-Raw as the protagonist Jane, a woman who gets the chance to live in an extraordinary house but discovers a woman died in it years ago.
Oyelowo will also star in the comedy series Call My Agent which premieres in 2022. The show follows a London talent agency as they attempt to make their clients happy and stay in business. His wife Jessica Oyelowo will also star in the series.
