HOUSE OF GUCCI
Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Jared Leto, Salma Hayek+

OK, Ridley Scott. We see you hitting us with the big movies this year. Not only does the legendary director have the star-studded The Last Duel coming out, the trailer for House of Gucci just dropped, and so did our jaws. The film chronicles three decades of the Gucci fashion family, and it’s full of love, betrayal, and murder. If you thought Scott’s other films had iconic casting, wait till you read about this lineup.
Lady Gaga. Adam Driver. Jared Leto. Al Pacino. Salma Hayek. Jeremy Irons.
Are you excited yet? If not, check out the trailer. It’s camp to the extreme and features some of the most incredible teases to a possible Oscar contender. Here’s a rundown of the biggest stars, what you can expect from them, and our reaction to them in the movie. Enjoy, PROVOKRs.
LADY GAGA
This casting choice is perfecto. The trailer opens with Lady Gaga looking as chic as ever as Patrizia Reggiani. (Gaga, who is Italian, takes on her best Italian accent.) Yes, she plays The Black Widow herself. Reggiani married Maurizio Gucci and was charged with arranging his assassination — a key point of the film. This marks Gaga’s second feature film since starring in A Star Is Born. It looks like Gaga is on her way to landing another Oscar nomination.
ADAM DRIVER
Speaking of Oscar nominations, Adam Driver has been raking them in the last few years. Driver has been nominated for two, and by the looks of it, he’s heading toward three. He portrays Maurizio Gucci, the head of the Gucci Fashion House. As mentioned, he ends up dead, but how we get to that point will be riveting. And we want to see him in that white sweater and wide-rimmed glasses that has everyone talking.
JARED LETO
Jared Leto continues his streak of being utterly unrecognizable in any role. From the fat suit (at least we think it’s a fat suit) to the bald cap and the fantastic but over-the-top accent, Leto comes away as the most memorable from the trailer. He plays Paolo Gucci, who briefly served as Gucci’s vice president and managing director. He’s mostly a fun character, and we can’t wait to see Leto in that role.
AL PACINO
Honestly, what’s an Italian movie without Al Pacino? He plays Aldo Gucci, the son of Guccio Gucci, founder of the company. So, yeah, he is indeed the bigwig in the film — as he should be.
SALMA HAYEK
We cannot get enough of Salma Hayek — so it’s safe to say we’re thrilled she’s in this movie. She’ll take on the role of Pina Auriemma, Reggiani’s “clairvoyant” best friend. That means we’ll see many scenes with Hayek and Gaga. Sign us up!
JEREMY IRONS
Finally, we come to esteemed stage and film actor Jeremy Irons, who will undoubtedly bring a sense of elevation to House of Gucci. He will take on the role of Rodolfo Gucci, the incredible Italian actor, and brother to Aldo. We see Irons’ character sitting and watching old films — most likely his own in the trailer. He carries a sense of refined elegance, and we love it.
So, PROVOKRs, are you excited? If not, you should be because this group has been nominated for 17 Oscars. Now that is impressive!
House of Gucci will be released in November 2021.
