ANIMAL COLLECTIVE RETURNS
New Music, New Tour, Can't Wait
The indie band Animal Collective is finally returning! The band has just announced it will be dropping an album on February 4 – its first one in six years.
Time Skiffs is the group’s 11th studio album, and the band describes it as the “collected transmissions of four people who have grown into relationships and parenthood and adult worry.”
Animal Collective has released a single ahead of the album’s release called “Walker.” The song is a tribute to Scott Walker, a British musician the group admired.
“Mostly ‘Walker’ is a tribute to Scott Walker who passed away around the time I began writing the song,” band member Noah Lennox told Zane Lowe in an interview. “Scott’s music has meant a lot to me, and he’ll always be a big inspiration. But there’s also an exhaustion and resignation to the singer of ‘Walker’ that belies a darker layer.”
The video for “Walker” was directed by band member David Portner and his sister Abby. “It was so much fun to collaborate with Dave on this video,” she said. “There were so many drawings and phone calls back and forth about how to make the record cover come to life and so much experimenting with movements of the band and acrobats to figure out how to get the flow right. I have never been on a set with so much excitement and clapping after takes when it all fell into place.”
The group is also heading out on tour, playing shows around the US throughout March. Fans can’t wait to hear more from the band!
