BAD BUNNY’S BEST VIDEOS
Brave, Angry + Positively Correct
Puerto Rican singer, rapper and producer Bad Bunny drops the kind of tunes that can kickstart any party and encourage some dancing. Dig a little deeper though, and his songs are filled with positive messages and solid lessons. Here are six videos with lyrics that are worthy of serious attention.
NUEVAYoL
A life-affirming party song about bringing Puerto Rican culture to New York, and includes a message from Trump where the President says, “I want to say, this country is nothing without the immigrants.” It might be fake, but who cares? That’s the sort of thing a president should be saying.
LA MuDANZA
The closing track of the Debí Tirar Más Fotos album, “LA MuDANZA” is a touching song about family, and also Puerto Rican heritage and independence. It’s a lively, emotional and touching tune.
Tití Me Preguntó
Bad Bunny’s aunt takes on the role of his conscience in this tune, with the good lady chastising him for having too many girlfriends. “Hey, boy, the disgraceful devil, Let go of that bad life you have on the streets, Find a serious woman for yourself,” Auntie Bunny says, as she makes a solid attempt to combat casual misogyny.
MONACO
Like most of Bad Bunny’s songs, “MONACO” isn’t overtly political. The song is a celebration of his wealth and growing influence, and a flip of the bird to his haters. Let’s face it, many of his haters are hating because they don’t like to see a Puerto Rican man doing so well (and performing at the Super Bowl).
TURiSTA
This one has a double meaning — there’s the superficial “tourism” of a casual romantic encounter, and also the way that tourists treat Puerto Rico. Quit causing chaos, travelers!
YO PERREO SOLA
The best of the bunch. “YO PERREO SOLA” is a song about a woman’s right to dance by herself and not be harassed by unwelcome dudes. For crying out loud fellas – CONSENT!
