Kentucky-born, Cali-based star Tinashe has come a long way since her time in bubblegum kiddie-pop outfit The Stunners (alongside one Hayley Kiyoko). Nowadays she’s blasting out alt-pop-R&B bangers like there’s no tomorrow. Her eighth studio album, Popstar, just landed and has been earning her rave reviews. She has an arsenal of material though; her debut album Aquarius dropped in 2014. Here are six of the more temperature-raising visuals that her career has thrown up thus far…

“Pillow Fight”

With her hair disheveled Flashdance style, Tinashe purrs, “I’ll take you to the bed, I’ll get you right-right,” before landing on said freshly-made bed and offering her beau a pillow fight. Thing is, based on the tone of her voice we doubt that she actually wants to throw pillows around. But then, she does state in the song that she likes to “tussle” so who knows? This stellar track is taken from the new Popstar record.

“Cross That Line”

Pulled from 2024’s Quantum Baby, this one has some mixed messages. “You could be the love of my life, I’m ready to cross that line,” Tinashe croons while getting pulled into a cell by some armed guards. WTF? Mind you, once she gets to that cell she starts dancing, writhing on the floor while calling out for her loved one, and apparently having a blast.

“Nasty”

Another one from Quantum Bay, “Nasty” catches Tinashe singing, “Is somebody gonna match my nasty, I’ve got stamina, I’m an athlete.” She then tells us that she’s been a “nasty girl” while grinding on the ground in the desert.

“Uh Huh”

This sultry tune is taken from 2023’s BB/Ang3l and, much like Kylie Minogue’s “Padam Padam,” the crux of the song is the simple sound of the artist’s satisfaction. The video is a no-frills affair–all black lycra, leather gloves and white curtains–but it’s startlingly effective.

“X/I Can See the Future”

This video combines the “X” and “I Can See the Future” tracks from 2023’s 333 album, and there’s a spoken word narrative that flows throughout. But the focus of this vid is the cyberpunk outfits–all chains and skintight-everything.

“Bouncin”

Another one from 333, “Bouncin” starts off with a guy wearing a VR headset, continuing the futuristic theme that we saw with “X/I Can See the Future.” The dance routine that follows is presumably what the chap can see in his VR world. Way better than playing Call of Duty.
