18 MAGNIFICENT NUDES
Master fashion photographers bare all
When we started this story we thought we were going to be tremendously turned on and left breathless. That happened, of course, but in the process we were stunned by the artistry and execution of these amazing images.
The imagination and bravery of the subject is limitless here. We created this story to show the best fashion photographers who are literally shooting nothing, at least no fabulous brands adorning their subjects. These stripped down images may be the strongest works for many of these photographers. When the subject and the photographer have nothing artificial to hide behind an astounding truth and trust seems to emerge for these collaborators.
Among the work we have assembled here are photographs by Richard Avedon, Annie Leibowitz, Stephen Klein, Helmut Newton, Ellen von Unwerth, Steven Meisel, Herb Ritts, Bruce Weber, Russell James, Albert Watson, and Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott.
The subjects are equally critical to the success of the art. We see Angelina Jolie, Rudolf Nureyev, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, Madonna, and many more very recognizable faces who have the guts and the creativity to bare all.
We wonder what the conversations were between subject and photographer. Did the sexual tension and art merge on the set or just in that instant?
