Out Of This World Photography
The original Star Trek series would begin each episode with the following phrase: “Space: the final frontier.” The phrase was a part of a larger speech on mankind exploring outer space and making new discoveries. One person who has dedicated himself to doing just that from the comfort of his own home is Andrew McCarthy.
McCarthy is a photographer residing in Arizona who specializes in solar photography, which involves taking pictures of outer space. His instagram account, cosmic_background, has thousands of posts, many of which feature breathtaking images of our universe. He recently went viral after photographing a friend of his jumping from a plane in the desert. The photo ended up being what he called, “A surreal moment,” as it shows a silhouette falling from the sky as the desert sun lurks in the background. The photo was appropriately titled “The Fall of Icarus.”
He sold prints of this, as well as his other photographs, making solar photography a business for him as well as a hobby. One of McCarthy’s recent post entails the process he underwent taking a photo of Orion, one of the galaxy’s most famous constellations. His career as a solar photographer and content creator shows no signs of slowing down soon so you can expect more breathtaking pictures from him in the near future.
