Fresh Street Color
The Stories From Harry Gruyaert's Camera

Color, composition, magic light and that perfect moment – Harry Gruyaert has it all. His first solo show in the U.S. is at the esteemed Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York City. Harry Gryuyaert is a Paris-based photographer, born in Belgium, well known in Europe for his street photography.
Driven by an irresistible urge to become a photographer he became a pioneer in European color photography. Gruyaert says,”For me, photography is not only about composition and color, it has to say something about the time and place.” His work does all that and more. There is something so boldly fresh about his combinations of color, choice of composition and successful storytelling.
Harry Gruyaert has a connection to beauty, complex constructions and at times he lets a singular loneliness penetrate an image. His choices of angles, distances and cropping of linear human constructions like streets and tents in the distance are breathtaking. “I am interested in that strange magic that occurs when things come together. I look to form a connection to a place. I have to be moved by something,” said Gruyaert recently from his studio in Paris.
We are excitedly, strongly drawn to his brilliant photography for the same reasons Gruyaert has for capturing those moments. His work is exhibited at the Howard Greenberg Gallery through March 14 and is not to be missed. For more information visit www.howardgreenberg.com.
