13 BEST TV SHOWS 2021
Squid Game, Maid, It's A Sin, Reservation Dogs

We watched so much TV this year, PROVOKRs, and we hope you did too. There was so much to love, from returning faves to new hits and iconic characters. Whether you watched all of these when they aired, or you’re just catching up, you have to make this your 2021 TV bucket list.
INSECURE SERIES FINALE (HBO)
Season five marks the end of Issa Rae’s Insecure. The hit comedy broke boundaries and brought in a vast, engaged audience. So it may be the end of the HBO series, but we’ll be seeing a lot more of Rae.
SUCCESSION SEASON 3 (HBO)
The season three finale catapulted this show into the elite TV category. The Roys are back and even more childish than usual — so you know it was a fantastic season. Keep your eye on these actors when Emmy season rolls around next year.
THE WHITE LOTUS (HBO)
Jennifer Coolidge was undoubtedly the best part of The White Lotus (and Sydney Sweeney is a close second.) So much happened at the resort in the series that we’re booking it for our next vacation.
MARE OF EASTTOWN (HBO)
There is a reason Kate Winslet won an Emmy for the role of Mare in Mare of Easttown. The crime drama has a killer twist that shook everyone on social media.
SQUID GAME (NETFLIX)
Talk about a sensation. The whole world tuned into the Korean drama Squid Game. The dystopian thriller about capitalism makes for crazy TV.
WANDAVISION (DISNEY+)
We started 2021 with the long-anticipated premiere of WandaVision — and it didn’t disappoint. Disney’s most creative venture has a clever hook, and Elizabeth Olsen is captivating.
HACKS (HBO)
Hacks was the best comedy of 2021. With genius writing and a perfect performance from Jean Smart, Hacks is the series we weren’t expecting to love this year.
THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD (AMAZON PRIME)
Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins is the brains behind Amazon’s The Underground Railroad. All ten episodes reel you in and keep you hooked.
RESERVATION DOGS (HULU)
Hell yes to representation! Reservation Dogs is ruling the TV awards circuit so far, and for a good reason. The series follows Native American teens on a reservation in Oklahoma.
MAID (NETFLIX)
The best performance this year goes to Margaret Qualley. In Maid, she plays a single mom who escapes an abusive relationship to give her child a better life.
TED LASSO SEASON 2 (APPLETV+)
Remarkably few shows can follow up a critically acclaimed first season, but Ted Lasso does it. Season two builds off of season one, and it doesn’t reuse its jokes and gimmicks. That’s what makes it so powerful.
IT’S A SIN (HBO)
It’s A Sin was praised as one of the most realistic depictions of the AIDS epidemic.
THE CHAIR (NETFLIX)
Sandra Oh always kills it. In the show, her character becomes the first woman of color to chair a department at a university. The downside? It’s a failing English department, which means she must work even harder to prove people wrong.
MONEY HEIST SERIES FINALE (NETFLIX)
And, finally, we couldn’t forget the Money Heist series finale. It’s safe to say we’re going to miss this thrilling, engaging series. But, we need to find something to fill the hole in our binge lists.
