6 SHOWS FOR FALL
Batwoman, American Horror Story, Watchmen + more!

Sure, it’s still summer out. But as the months get hotter, our TV watching starts to cool down a bit. Streaming has a lot to offer, but you cable watchers out there don’t have much to choose from. It’s mostly reality TV, and though that’s great for some, it doesn’t work for others.
Believe it or not, fall TV is right around the corner. A variety will be added to streaming and cable TV will gain some power. Here are six shows you better keep your eye on leading up to fall TV:
BATWOMAN
Queer icon Ruby Rose will take on the role of Batwoman in The CW’s adaptation of the heroine. The series is said to adhere to the comics, which explores Batwoman’s identity as a lesbian. Can we get a “HELL YES”? We are more than excited to see creators and writers embracing diversity. And, tbh, we are more excited to see Ruby in that killer outfit kicking ass.
AMERICAN HORROR STORY: 1984
Ryan Murphy’s horrifying anthology series is back on FX starting September 18. This season, titled 1984, will pay homage to the slasher films during that period. Remember Halloween, A Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th? Yeah, that’s what Murphy is going for, but it’s likely to have that zainy, campy element to it.
WATCHMEN
Ten years after the failed Watchmen movie directed by Zack Snyder, HBO is reviving the comic as a series. Instead of taking place in 1985, HBO’s adaptation will happen in the modern age. The masked crusaders are ousted by the governing forces, but the doomsday clock still ticks.
THE POLITICIAN
If you thought we were done with Ryan Murphy, you were wrong. The creator and his team are taking on another series, Netflix’s The Politician, which marks Murphy’s first streaming-only series. It doesn’t appear to be as heavy as AHS, and that has to do with its comedy and musical tags on IMDb. The show centers around a character played by Broadway superstar Ben Platt, whose only goal is to become President of the United States. Each season will focus on a different campaign, and it stars Bohemian Rhapsody beauty Lucy Boynton, Gwenyth Paltrow and Jessica Lange.
LOOKING FOR ALASKA
It’s FINALLY happening. After many talks of a film starring Selena Gomez, then a series three years ago, John Green’s debut novel is getting a well-deserved adaptation. Hulu picked up the rights to the boarding-school set drama. Charlie Plummer will star as main character Miles and Kristine Froseth will assume the role of Alaska. This is one series you’re not going to miss, so set your calendars for October 18.
HIS DARK MATERIALS
Speaking of amazing yet-to-come adaptations. The His Dark Materials series is getting a series. For those who think the title is familiar, you might know it best as The Golden Compass, the first installment. There have already been 16 episodes ordered by HBO, so you can bet there will be two seasons at least. The show was written by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child playwright, Jack Thorne, and stars Dafne Keen, James McAvoy and THE Lin-Manuel Miranda It’s going to be epic.
