Has Amazon been reading our fan-fic? Because its TV studio will release Carnival Row starring Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne on August 30, and the pair engages in a very sexual relationship.

Hip, gorgeous model Delevingne plays a faery by the name of Vignette Stonemoss. She comes to the neo-Victorian London with groups of magical creatures who were displaced after a man populated their forest. (Imperialism themes? Yes, and we love it.) There she meets Rycroft Philostrate with whom she starts an adventurous relationship. Delevingne said in an interview with Variety at Comic Con that her character is pansexual, though it’s not explicitly stated in the show.

“All faeries generally are (pansexual),” she said. “They don’t see gender. It’s all about who they are and their hearts. A lot of the things that weren’t written in the script, we made them so. Obviously, I didn’t say, ‘I want to be a pansexual faerie,’ but it made sense that all faeries kind of just love who they love.”

There are other queer characters in the 9-episode series, and other themes run through the season, as well. The most glaring theme is that of immigration. The Brisith Delevingne takes on an Irish accent, and it’s not a coincidence. It’s likely a move to highlight the Irish immigration story.

But the series is likely to resonate with everyone during this time, as the U.S. holds people at the Mexico border. It’s ripe time to bring in more stories about immigration, no matter what form they come in.

We just can’t wait to see the show tackle relevant topics and see Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne get it on faery style.
